Penang

4-27 Penang, Malaysia
-originally planned to only be here for a night then to go to thailand the next day. realized this was crazy talk. booked our first dorm-style room at red inn, where they have free breakfast, coffee, and internet, all for about 8 usd. yes.
-got some not-so-impressive dinner then planned out our next day. self guided tourism.

4-28 Penang, Malaysia
-made friends with a girl from Canada, Veronique. she joined us as we bussed to the Snake Temple (they have poisonous snakes just chilling all over the place, it´s crazy. but the snakes are totally lazy and don´t do anything but sleep), then back to town for lunch (really good this time), then off to penang hill.. penang´s version of hong kong´s peak tram. this one was steeper! and it was cool at the top and we saw lots of monkeys in the surrounding trees. so cute. then a hindu temple that was soo colorful and probably my favorite so far on this trip (take that, india). we took lots of pictures of penang island (all visible from up there), then headed back down. we had some western dinner since veronique was craving it, and saw some event at a club across the street. very fancy people there. we decided we looked too ¨spiritual¨ to even have a shot at getting in. got some ice cream and called it a night.
